European Enterprise Awards 2023

14. Best Green Energy Project Management Company - Germany Based in Munich, ProEuropean Trading GmbH is a leading project management company dedicated to innovating the green energy sector. With its turnkey projects, the business plays a crucial role in generating, distributing, and integrating the latest technological advances into power generation projects. Its mission is to make clean energy affordable and accessible for its partners and their regional communities. ProEuropean Trading GmbH is leading the charge in green energy solutions and for its innovative work, the company has been awarded a European Enterprise Award. ProEuropean specialises in research and innovation in Green H2 (green hydrogen), installation and delivery of turnkey power station projects, project structuring, planning, and project finance. By integrating green energy systems, the company strives to play a leading part in the European Energy Transformation towards carbon neutrality and supports the EU’s long-term strategy of climate neutrality by 2050. ProEuropean will complete its mission through the development, construction, and implementation of clean energy projects throughout Europe. Its primary focus is providing deep decarbonisation solutions to the industrial sector with the aim of achieving zero carbon emissions. The current global energy crisis is accelerating the green transition from fossil fuel-based energy to renewable solutions. Hydrogen technologies offer a low-carbon and cheaper alternative for energy security. It is the EU’s objective to achieve a domestic target of ten million tons of renewable hydrogen by 2030. To meet this goal, further research and investment into renewable energy and green hydrogen is required. H2Crete Valley, ProEuropean’s largest endeavour to date, is a pioneering project dedicated to generating H2 from renewable energy sources and sea water. The project will create a largescale green hydrogen production plant on the island of Crete. H2Crete’s objective is to build a cost-effective H2 hub that will positively impact the local and European economies and distribute energy to key markets in Bulgaria, Cyprus, Germany, Greece, and Romania. The project is supported by several renowned institutions including RINA, an international engineering company that advises ProEuropean on technical and financial matters. Several other energy companies have announced their intent to build in Crete due to the strategic positioning of the island. Projects such as EuroAsia Interconnector and EastMed pipeline will provide significant environmental benefits and access to reliable, lowcost energy sources. ProEuropean has chosen Atherinolakos, an uninhabited industrial area in Crete, as the best location to build the H2Crete Valley Project. The area boosts direct access to existing infrastructure, port facilities, open sea, desalination plants, and TSO’s and DSO’s networks and pipelines. The project aims to create roughly 245 new jobs which will boost employment in the project management sector. As well as recruitment, H2Crete will offer a series of training programs to educate its staff on the green hydrogen ecosystem. Through these actions, ProEuropean will contribute to the EU’s objectives of reducing employment and fostering lifelong learning. The H2Crete Valley Project has been recognised by the Clean Hydrogen Partnership as a ‘Hydrogen Valley’, one of 84 in the world, for its contributions to the renewable energy sector. Through H2Crete, ProEuropean aims to turn Crete into the green hydrogen hub of the Mediterranean Sea. The green hydrogen produced will be used for several different end-markets: export, public mobility, and the Navy. ProEuropean is currently in negotiations with Greek shipowners, port authorities, and international companies to deliver its green energy sources to the export market. Green hydrogen can also be used as an alternative fuel for public mobility (buses, cars, and heavy goods vehicles). The H2Crete Valley project will incentivise drivers with the aim of transforming Cretan vehicles into a hydrogen-powered zeroemission fleet. Lastly, the project will target the Hellenic Navy and NATO, who have positioned major naval bases on Crete. H2Crete hopes to supply hydrogen to fuel-cell Navy submarines in operation in the Mediterranean Sea. ProEuropean is dedicated to unlocking the power of renewable energy solutions for its partners and their communities. The company aims to become a vital player in creating clean energy and fulfilling the EU’s goal of achieving net neutrality by 2030. Through projects such as H2Crete, ProEuropean will continue to incorporate the latest technological advancements in the generation and distribution of green hydrogen and implement them into power generation projects. The company’s overarching vision is to make clean energy an affordable, accessible, and reliable option for everyone. ProEuropean’s innovative work has led us to bestow the business with this year’s award for Best Green Energy Project Management Company – Germany.
