12. European Travel Awards 2025 One-of-a-kind travel game, Crosstravel, takes players on a discovery journey throughout Europe without even leaving the comfort of their own home. Hailed for its creative approach, we find out more from the game’s inventor, Juha Tuulikangas, as it receives notable recognition in the European Travel Awards 2025. Produced by Juliet Tango Products, Crosstravel Europe (Crosstravel) is a completely new and innovative kind of board game developed in Finland. Based on strategy and intelligence, and combining the fun and laughter of a traditional board game with up-to-date fact-finding from the internet, all that is needed to play is a device with internet connection. From this, players can enjoy being introduced to all sorts of travel destinations, from small villages to big cities, as well as traveling to their favourite country, or visit a destination they have long dreamt of… Of course, as with any board game, the aim of the game is to beat opponents and win, but all whilst journeying through the world, virtually, with Crosstravel! The brainchild of Juha Tuulikangas, the innovative creator of Crosstravel was also keen to take ecological aspects into account when designing the game. Sustainability is key and therefore the game contains hardly any plastic, and what is in use is also fully recyclable, with a view to making the entire unit and its packaging completely plastic-free in the future. Not only is Crosstravel a fun game for all the family, and those who love to fill crossword puzzles, but it is very useful as a teaching tool in schools. Juha tells us more: “Many teachers, as well as parents, have praised the game, saying that it has helped children who play it to learn about geography and geographical information by using the internet - learning by doing, and doing it in a fun and exciting way!” The game also works to assist independent travellers, helping them to plan their trips in advance. Not least because most of the targets (which are cities and villages) are relatively small ones which can take potential travel enthusiasts off the mainstream track and to places they may have otherwise never discovered. Travel Your Dreams and Dream On with Crosstravel!” Working predominantly by himself, Juha was understandably delighted to gain notoriety in the European Travel Awards 2025 recently, with his invention being crowned with the title of Best Travel-Themed Board Game 2025.
