German CEO Excellence Awards 2023

Aug22136 Household Retail CEO of the Year 2023: Tim Taddicken Taddicken GmbH is a stationary specialist with a unique selling point of combining the brick and mortar trade with e-commerce flexibility and options. Following CEO Tim Taddicken’s success and recognition in the programme, we endeavoured to find out more. There’s an element of a one-stop-shop with Taddicken GmbH, as broad as its offerings and services are. If you need something for your house, chances are this company can fulfil that need. As Tim explains, “Whether you need something cheap or expensive, we have the right thing for every customer.” This is how Taddicken GmbH has grown in the industry, building a reputation for consistent, high-quality services and products. “We try and offer peace of mind,” Tim says. “In our shop we also offer services such as the assembly and delivery of large appliances such as refrigerators or washing machines but also satellite or electrical installation. This interaction between dealers in the specialist trade as well as item trading and service providers makes us unique at our location. We can address so many people.” That reputation is certainly long-standing – the business has been in the family for four generations, with Tim raised in the company’s walls and learning the ropes since childhood. Since he’s taken the lead in regards to management, the company’s growth has boomed, as he moves on to discuss. “Through the combination of physical work and knowledge, I was able to achieve fabulous growth of almost 200 percent last year, despite times of crisis. I am particularly proud of my employees who not only keep the company running day after day but also make a valuable contribution to its steady growth. Since I took over, the business has been completely realigned. We have become much more digital. In addition, we have fine-tuned our product range in order to be able to address even more customers. At the location where we are located, we have quite a unique selling point in the area. It is precisely for this reason that we are constantly expanding and expanding our range.” Being a family business, one of defining characteristics of Taddicken GmbH is its internal culture. For Tim, this culture has – and will continue – to be built through honesty, transparency and collaboration. “It is particularly important to me that problems are discussed openly. If, for example, there are difficulties with order processing, etc. the staff can tell me that bluntly. In this way, we have already been able to improve some processes together. Especially in today's times, it is important to keep good employees. Through partner programs and a salary increase with business growth, we are very employee-friendly. The familiar and friendly atmosphere does the rest. “Saying that, I also understand that it is important to move with the times and not against time. If you don't adapt nowadays, you've already lost. That's why, among other things, we are trying to become more and more digital and thus set new incentives. Just recently, for example, we integrated new digital billboards in the shop window. Not only offers but also product videos run on it. In purchasing I follow current trends and am in contact with other business colleagues to exchange ideas.” This is particularly illuminating, as family businesses can be quite resistant to change, holding onto traditions and “the way of doing things” longer than other companies in similar industries. Ultimately, this change and adaptation looks set to continue, fuelling Taddicken GmbH’s expansion as we move through the rest of the year – as Tim discusses in his closing comments.“In the future, of course, we would like to continue to grow. For this purpose, the integration of a new merchandise management system is planned this year as well as the creation of shops on many well-known online marketplaces. Of course, we also want to create new incentives for our stationary customers. There we want to expand the assortment again this year.” Company Name: Taddicken GmbH Address:15-17, 26553 Dornum Contact Email: [email protected] Jan23353
