Having started programming at just 11-years-old, Sebastian entered the world of IT at a very young age and was actively online by 1994. This sparked his analytical mindset and successfully set the tone for a career of digital progression and prosperity. Later, he earned a PhD in Computer Science from the Ottovon-Guericke University Magdeburg. Here, Dr. Herden focused on complex IT architectures, and received a scholarship from SAP, which further deepened his understanding of enterprise IT structures. Sebastian’s professional career began in enterprise architecture, first with a role at T-Systems, and then as Lead Enterprise Architect at Deutsche Telekom. He led large-scale digital transformation projects, seamlessly integrating new technologies into complex IT environments. Here, Sebastian quickly realised that large companies aren’t failing due to a lack of technology, but because of slow decision-making and rigid structures. “The challenge wasn’t just technical – it was strategic and cultural,” he recalls. In 2018, Sebastian left Deutsche Telekom to build his own eCommerce company, scaling it to more than 160,000 customers and 30 employees. He applied automation, AI-driven decision-making, and scalable IT architectures to prove that technology can drive real business value when strategically implemented. It was this realisation that led Sebastian to found Y-Core Consulting in 2021, striving to bridge the gap between executives and IT teams and ensure that investments into technology drive measurable results.
