Hellenic Business Awards 2026

Jul22493 21. When CEO Gabriella Kindert joined Snappi, she had the opportunity to build a neobank in a country whose financial crisis had profoundly shaped the public’s relationship with financial institutions. She aspired to place financial confidence at the centre, combining the security and governance of a regulated bank with products, support, and guidance designed to improve the financial wellbeing of customers across Greece. We heard more below from Director of Corporate Communication Piret Reinson. “The future of banking will not be defined only by technology, but by trust, empathy, intelligence, and the ability to create more meaningful financial lives for people.” Snappi is built to redefine what everyday banking can feel like in Europe. Publicly launched in September 2025, Snappi combines the trust and security of a regulated bank with the simplicity, speed, and humancentred approach of the world’s leading fintechs. Headquartered in Greece with a growing international team, the company was the country’s first neobank to receive a license from the European Central Bank. From payments, pay later, savings, and lending to investments, Snappi is building an intuitive, human-centred banking experience around the way people actually live, supported by 24/7 customer service. But the company’s ambition goes beyond digital convenience; Snappi is on a mission to build a new generation financial ecosystem focused on financial wellbeing, accessibility, and intelligent banking experiences. In less than a year after launch, Snappi surpassed 100,000 onboarded customers while maintaining exceptional product velocity and community engagement. During its first year, Snappi introduced, on average, one new product or major feature every month from instant lending and flexible savings to Buy Now Pay Later, Split the Bill, referrals, and investment. One of the company’s most distinctive innovations is Cash Now 2-1-0, designed around a very real financial need. In Greece, 50.5% of people reported difficulty meeting an unexpected expense of approximately €500 in 2025. Cash Now gives eligible customers access to financing of up to €1,000, with 0% interest and a transparent one-time operational fee. “Behind the simplicity is technology developed in-house,” Piret told us. “Snappi’s digital-lending underwriting engine was built by our own data engineers together with expertise from the Snappi Fintech & AI Lab. This combination, solving a genuine customer problem while keeping the experience fast, transparent, and responsible, represents the direction in which we believe digital banking should evolve.” At Snappi, financial inclusion is closely connected to its core purpose: helping people build greater financial confidence. This mission means that products alone are often not enough. The company has developed a number of initiatives, such as the What The Finance programme, wherein it provides practical financial education designed to make financial concepts more understandable and relevant to everyday life. Snappi has also created the Snappi Hub in central Athens, a physical community, learning, and thought-leadership space that brings a human dimension to a digital-only bank. The Hub hosts workshops for students, customer sessions where people can speak directly to Snappi executives, startup and fintech ecosystem events, academic discussions, and international thoughtleadership conversations. It also doubles as a free co-working space for customers. In 2026, Snappi expanded this commitment through the Snappi Fintech & AI Lab, connecting academia, behavioural science, technology, and entrepreneurship to explore how AI and new approaches to financial services can contribute to more responsible, inclusive, and intelligent banking. This a broader belief that financial wellbeing is not determined by income or savings alone, but also knowledge, access, clarity, and the confidence to make informed decisions. “Our objective is not to make people more digital. It is to make banking so intuitive, accessible, and human that more people can participate in it with confidence.” Ultimately, Snappi does not see AI and machine learning as standalone features but as capabilities that can improve the entire banking experience. The company’s advancement, however, remains grounded in one unwavering principle: AI should not make banking less human. Its integration should give customers greater clarity and enable teams to provide more relevant and meaningful support when human interaction matters most. For a year, Snappi has combined the security and governance of a fully regulated bank with human support, transparent products, the speed of a fintech, and technology designed to improve financial wellbeing. The company has created a community that embraces change, experimentation, and continuous learning, cultivating connections between customers, students, academics, and international thought leaders. Together, the Snappi team have built an organisation capable of continuously refining itself, whilst demonstrating that Greece can be a place where the future of European banking is imagined and built.
