Irish Enterprise Awards 2023

30. Jan23307 At Phoenix Safety Solutions, clients are the number one priority. The firm’s Founder, Michelle Geary, is committed to helping people gain lifesaving skills that they can not only use in the workplace but also at home or when travelling. We speak to her and find out more as it is named in the Irish Enterprise Awards 2023. As a family run business based in Killavullen, County Cork, Phoenix Safety Solutions (Phoenix) specialises in Health and Safety training. With a mission to help everyone, regardless of age or ability, to make both the home and work place a safer environment, Phoenix provides everything from basic first aid courses to individuals right up to large multinationals which need to train their staff in order to remain compliant. “For us, helping clients gain new skills and knowledge isn’t only a commitment, but also a passion,” states Michelle Geary, the firm’s Founder. “We know that even the best laid plans don't always work out and accidents happen. By doing a training course, you will not only gain the skills to assess the risk in a situation, and put in place necessary precautions, but also gain the confidence needed to deal with an emergency situation if it arises.” It's much more that simply a training course for Michelle and the team at Phoenix, and the dedicated instructors are there every step of the way to help clients along their journey to becoming qualified in making the world around them a safe and happier place. Michelle shares a little industry insight with us. She says, “In the 2021 Out-of-Hospital Cardiac Arrest Register report, 81% of cardiac arrests happened in a private setting,” she explains. “This means that most likely it will happen with someone that you know. By working closely with our attendees we can help them gain more confidence that if something were to happen, they can help. Bystander CPR has increased over the years and we want to ensure that this continues to rise.” Offering classes seven days a week at times and dates to suit its clients, Phoenix’s flexibility is second to none and is available to all attendees. This is just one of the many USPs that serve to set the firm aside from competitors. And the support doesn’t stop there. Once training is over, all clients have access to the team for the duration of their certificate which means they always have someone to hand if a question arises. “By knowing that support is out there it helps clients to leave training assured and confident in their new found skills,” Michelle elaborates. “We also offer funding for our eligible clients to help make all training as cost effective as possible. By doing this we can help clients meet their needs, get trained successfully but also to have minimal effect on the business needs.” Due to Covid, Michelle is seeing an increased demand for online training, although Phoenix offers fully classroom based training also. Most of the training courses are all offered as a blended learning experience, which are fully instructor led. This ensures that each attendee participates in the training and is there for the duration of the course. That they have someone on hand at all times to help with any in the moment questions that they may have, which results in a more interactive learning experience for the client. The culture within Phoenix is one of integrity. The employees who work for the company believe that with every class they teach, they are sending clients back into the world with the skills that can help save a life. Recently, Phoenix Safety Solutions gained recognition in the Irish Enterprise Awards with the title of Best First Aid & Safety Best First Aid & Safety Training Company 2023 Training Company 2023. Understandably delighted, Michelle now has big plans on the horizon. Constantly assessing the ways she can improve how Phoenix teaches, and also the resources that each person has once they leave the classroom, Michelle is looking forward to further developing these so that clients have easy access to the tools that will help them in an emergency situation and that more lives can potentially be saved as a result. “If just one more person walks out of a class and makes a change to how they work more safely, or performs CPR, that’s one more difference that we have made,” she enthuses. “In 2023 we will continue to grow our team and offer a wider range of services to our clients. By expanding the team we will continue to be able to offer the flexibility that we currently do.” Contact: Michelle Geary Web Address: www.phoenixsafetysolutions.ie
