One primary area of focus here is the predominant use of one currency, with this making financial matters much easier as conversion is oftentimes not something that Gerhard has to worry about when working with customers from other EU countries. As he eloquently puts it, “you don't need to make life unnecessarily difficult. I see it that way in all areas of life.” Nevertheless, Gerhard believes that some overarching issues within the EU on matters such as unanimity still need to be addressed in order to further streamline its policies. Putting such matters aside, as a sole proprietor, Gerhard’s internal culture rests squarely on his own shoulders, and consists of a trifecta of traits, reliability, self-organisation, and friendliness. Standing firm with his decision to work alone at the moment, Gerhard acknowledges the uncertainty of the future of the industry, since the market and customer demands are undergoing continuous shifts. For the immediate future, Gerhard is starting 2024 hoping to deliver a first and second quarter that are better than 2023, a year that he described as “difficult.” Despite these challenges, Gerhard is confident this year will bring some new and interesting projects, and that Bottermann Visuals e.U. will continue to establish itself.
