The Managing Director Awards 2026

Jul22546 The Managing Director Awards 2026 ecause traditional investing platforms can often feel inaccessible and complex, 21-year-old UK fintech co-founder Matthew Sherman is creating Investwizz, a platform focused on making investing more goal-centric, transparent, and easier to understand. For many people, investing can feel difficult to approach because the language, risks and choices are not always easy to understand. Investwizz is being built to make that journey clearer, helping users explore goals, understand risk in plain English, and learn how different portfolio examples may work before deciding whether to invest real money. It does not provide personal financial advice. The idea for Investwizz began with a simple observation: many people are interested in investing, but feel put off by jargon, complex interfaces and uncertainty about where to start. Investwizz has built the platform around a simple question: how can investment education become clearer, more accessible and more useful for people planning their financial future? For Matt, the opportunity was not just to build another investing app, but to use his technical background to make investment information feel clearer, more approachable, and easier to explore. As Matt explained: “We are committed to building technology that is clear, user-focused, and easy to use.” Investwizz’s product app is designed to help users better understand investment concepts and information through clear, explainable educational insights. Matt added, “We believe financial education should not be limited to experts. Our mission is to support individuals, especially those new to investing, with clearer information as they consider their long-term financial goals.” For users, the aim is to make investing feel less like a black box. Investwizz is being designed to help people set goals, understand their comfort with risk, explore portfolio examples, and learn what different investment choices may mean over time. The platform uses AI to support clearer explanations and educational insights, while keeping the user in control of their own decisions. In his role as co-founder and Managing Director of Engineering, Matt prioritises a collaborative, hands-on style of leadership, setting clear expectations and high standards but always providing his team with the support network they need to succeed. His day to day is incredibly diverse, covering everything from multiple meetings to diving into the code, scoping out how the entire product will be engineered, and even creating full working systems through the Investwizz app. One of the key things for Matt across his role is striking a balance between structure and creativity, and he told us of the importance of AI-Powered Investments Business Leader of the Year 2026: Matthew Sherman At just 21 years old, Matthew (“Matt”) Sherman co-founded Investwizz, an AI-powered fintech platform aimed at helping make investment education more accessible, transparent, and easier to understand for everyday users across the UK. Built around smart technology, simplified investing tools, and a user-first approach, Investwizz is aiming to reshape how people learn about investing and long-term financial planning. For more on the Investwizz platform and the young pioneer behind it, we had the pleasure of catching up with Matt himself. creating an environment where team members feel confident in taking ownership of their work and deeply connected to what they do. The key to doing so is to listen, learn quickly, and build a trusted team that can grow alongside Investwizz itself. Matt surrounds himself with people who can challenge him for this reason, with continuous self improvement now being a cornerstone of Investwizz. “We are a small but highly driven team of approximately 15 people working closely across all areas of the product. We encourage ownership and accountability while supporting each other’s growth. I am personally committed to helping team members develop their skills and confidence.” Discussing his journey to this leadership position, Matt commented: “My journey into AI and engineering began with hands-on work in machine learning, specifically focusing on applying models within financial contexts. I explored machine-learning applications in financial data contexts, which provided me with a strong foundation in data-driven decision-making and real-world financial systems.” Matt’s first taste of career success came during a four-month placement in the medtech space, developing a prenatal facial recognition model at VRAIn. For Matt: “This experience furthered my technical expertise in computer vision and demonstrated the profound impact AI can have when applied to complex, real-world problems. These experiences ultimately inspired me to co-launch Investwizz, where I combine my background in AI with a mission to make investment information easier to understand.” This journey has not been without its fair share of challenges, however, as Matt has been forced to make the transition from an individual contributor to a technical co-founder building an AI investment app from the ground up. Marking a significant area of growth for Matt, who has approached this challenge as an opportunity to learn, collaborate with those more experienced, and develop leadership skills – all very early in his career. All of this fuels Matt’s overarching goal, which is to leverage his knowledge, experience, and fresh perspective as a young co-founder of a fintech start-up to expand financial literacy and make the B Contact: Matthew Sherman Company: Investwizz Web Address: https://www.investwizz.co.uk/ LinkedIn TikTok
